Imagine for a moment a warm summer night, the gentle lapping of the river Seine against a river walkway. In the distance the sound of a city that never closes, its ‘joie de vivre’ echoing down every cobbled street. Lovers walking hand in hand, wrapped up in each others company
In fact…. let me show you what it could be like
Just like Woody and Goldie, you too could be famous for a night in the city of love. Paris.
For lovers of any age, Paris is a truly wonderfully romantic place to propose to your partner.
So to celebrate lovers from far and wide, my special feature this month is about a company that provides the most wonderful and unique wedding proposals.
Apoteo Surprise arranges luxury wedding proposals in France, its founder, Nicolas Garreau started the company in 2006 when he noticed that the most romantic city in the world was lacking a little French cupid that could make the most wonderful and unique wedding proposals come to life.
With over 30 different romantic senarios there is something here to suit everyone. Why not choose to be showered with one thousand red roses falling from the sky whilst you dine on a private yacht? Or project your marriage proposal with a picture of your fiancé below the Eiffel Tower? Such magnificent wedding ideas transpire here in the city of love.Give your fiancé a clue to what lies ahead by buying them this special Eiffel Tower bookmark
and placing it in a book of love poems by Victor Hugo.
with such wonderful ideas available, we asked Nicolas a few romantic questions of our own and this is what he had to say:
Sticky:
What made you start the business?
Nicolas:
I started my company on the basis that three million lovers from around the world come to Paris every year to say “I love you.’’ Paris is considered, globally, as the city of romance and love, I found it incredible that no one really offered romantic and unique experiences. So I decided to create romantic proposals; thirty “turnkey” memorable and exclusive concepts, especially for lovers who want to enjoy their stay in Paris and to make a marriage proposal that will be remembered for ever.
Sticky:
What is your most popular experience?
Nicolas:
My most popular surprise for 490 euros, is the “Say I love you in a limousine.’’ This popular choice takes in “Paris by Night;’’ an hour experiencing the fine Parisian districts, with champagne. As romantic music plays on board, your chauffer will gently pull to a stop in a street appropriately named the street of love, in front of a bright giant display, with a personalised message for your loved one.
For a VIP experience, our other big success is to ”Say I love you in a shower of 1000 roses”. This is a dinner cruise on an exclusive private yacht, with a gourmet dinner. During the cruise, the yacht stops under the Pont des Arts; 1000 red roses suddenly fall from the sky and within minutes your private yacht is adorned with a carpet of love. This service is truly magical and worthy of a fairy tale …
No, I’m not married but to be honest, I do use my girlfriend as a guinea pig to test various concepts. All in all she is thrilled with them but given my job, she is putting me under pressure to find a unique and original idea for my future marriage proposal (laughs) …
Sticky:
Are you planning any new experience for 2012?
Nicolas:
Yes, I work constantly on the development of new scenarios. For this year 2011, for example, I launched a surprise proposal entitled “Say I love you in Cinderella’s carriage.” We make the Cinderella tale of love come to life in Paris for one night!
For 2012… I cannot say what we are proposing, it is still a secret, so keep checking our website
For futher details check out the website and have a truly magical night that you will never forget.

Here are a few tips on choosing a reputable company:
1. How does the website look?
When choosing a website to purchase from, check that it looks professional. Is it easy to navigate with a clear understanding of what the customer wants? Does it have secure payment facilities like PayPal and clear terms and conditions for you to read in the event something needs to be returned or is damaged?
2. Check the reviews
Now I know that some may say reviews are often written by friends etc. but a trusted site will often have very detailed reviews about specific skills and products that that company has delivered. Sites that do not have your interests in mind often cannot be bothered or have the imagination to make up such detailed testimonials.
3. About us.
Check to see there ‘about us’ to give you an insight into the pedigree of those working for the website.
A good site should show that qualified, experienced people are there to help you with your enquiries.
4. Phone us.
Remember, often smaller companies work harder for you than the big companies. It’s in their interest to make your wedding go as smoothly as possible and for you to spread the word about how good they are. If there’s no one to speak to or email think again.
5. You talk, we listen, you smile and so do we.
If you spend a little time in advance researching the different wedding favour websites out there, you will come across the ones who really want to help you… So take your time, have a look and find that one company where everything that glitters really is gold!

New Year is famed for starting afresh and making resolutions, but for couples getting married, this may have special meaning. Some thoughts for those getting spliced on the dawn of a new year may want to take a little time to look at the following resolutions:
1. Pick a time and place on New Years Eve and make it your place that you go back every year at the same time.
It might be where you first met, a park, a theatre or even in a department store just like the film Serendipity
2. Watch Romantic Movies, get in the mood with great films like Only You and Family Man.
La La La La La means I love you… Make sure you say it every day
3. Downsize and simlipfy your lives by gaining some free time. Hire in some help, like a cleaner, to make some space in your diaries to take walks or have a weekly evening out together.
4. Respect each others point of view and talk about it.
Finally
5. Make a schedule to have fun together. Remember that’s why it all started!
